It's June which kicks Tough Mudder training up a notch.  Today the walk was 4.5 miles in officer housing on Cherry Point.

It's funny to me how Tough Mudder is consuming the smallest thoughts in my head. On Thursday I woke earlier than necessary for work so I did 8 (girl style) push ups before my normal morning routine. My thought process here is that if I build my upper arm strength with girly pushups, I'll be able to increase the number of real pushups that I can endure.

I didn't experience the "burst" of energy during the 4.5 mile walk today, that I have experienced in the shorter walks, but I'm pleased that the endurance is building. The pain in the leg didn't appear until about the 4 mile mark and that, to me is a good thing.

Besides that now the average temp has increased, and the sun feels quite warm at about mile 3, that I was able to complete the new challenge of distance today, pleases me.

In an effort to assist in my over-all training I invested in a new pair of sneakers. I've also sought out the Hash schedule so that maybe I can begin participating in that again.

Tough Mudder On!!!  I'll continue the 4.5 mile walk on the weekends, with a routine walk daily of about 2.5 miles and an attempt to incorporate some strength training this month as well. I've purchased some light weight dumb-bells which I carry on the short walks. I attempted (without any success) a pull up.  I don't have the upper arm strength to even hang from the bar.  Sad but true, but knowing this is where I need work, encourages me to do research so that maybe in 3 months I'll have upper arm strength to do one!!!
